Art is solving problems that cannot be formulated before they have been solved. The shaping of the question is part of the answer.

About This Quote

An artist is someone who solves problems that cannot be formulated before they have been solved. The shaping of the question is part of the answer. is a quote that I think expresses the truest essence of art. It also is something that I love to believe about myself.

I write because it is my way of solving problems that cannot be formulated before they have been solved. The shaping of the question is part of the answer. That’s why there are no rules or guidelines for writing.

You search with your mind for the solution to the problem you are presented with, and then with each step you take, you move closer to it. Sometimes, this is difficult; but most of the time, it’s quite simple. When you write, you don’t need to know how to write; all you need to know is what you want to say and how to say it.

And when you say it, maybe your words will move people; maybe they will change lives; maybe they will make your world better; maybe they will make your world worse; but whatever happens, at least they will have been written down somehow by someone who cares too much about their own words to let them pass by without being heard.
